To help farmers consider the different stockfree enterprises they could adopt when leaving livestock agriculture, we have compiled a number of enterprise budgets.
These budgets include an organized listing of the estimated outputs and costs associated with an enterprise with expected gross margins, helping farmers determine the true cost and economic viability of stockfree forms of land management. If appropriate, budgets include the various government subsidy payments that complement that enterprise.
Note that these budgets have been created to give farmers an idea of the options that are available to them.
The suitability of any enterprise will be dependent on the specific biophysical, topographic and climatic features of the land in question, and a thorough assessment and feasibility study will need to be carried out before changes are implemented. For conversion to organic, an organic conversion plan will also be needed. We do not advise that farmers carry out any significant change to their system without professional support. Our team of advisors have expertise in a range of stockfree systems and we are also able to connect you to external organizations if needed.
