For Farmers

Request a free consultation

If you are a farmer or crofter anywhere in the UK or Ireland and you are ready to explore what your land could do without livestock, we want to hear from you. Our advisory service is free, confidential, and built around your specific situation.

You do not need to have made any decisions. You can simply want to understand your options. That is enough.

All enquiries are treated in strict confidence.

For Supporters

Support the work

Stockfree Farming is a charitable trust, funded by grants and donations. Every penny goes directly into the advisory service and our ongoing research and policy work.
If you believe that farmers deserve proper support to navigate the change that is coming – and that the UK’s food system needs to change – please consider making a donation.

For Professionals

Join the advisory team

We are always interested in hearing from professionals with relevant expertise who share our values. If you have skills in farming, horticulture, ecology, soil science, rural business development, or related fields, and you would like to contribute to our advisory work, we would love to hear from you.

Advisors receive an hourly rate for the services they provide. Some members elect to donate their time.

Newsletter

Stay informed

We send a newsletter a few times a year, sharing updates on our work, new farmer stories, research findings, and developments in the policy environment. We do not believe in filling inboxes unnecessarily. When we write to you, it will be because something is genuinely worth knowing.

Certification

The Biocyclic Vegan Standard

For farmers who want to signal the quality and values of their stockfree produce to consumers and buyers, we endorse the Biocyclic Vegan Standard – an internationally recognised certification for farms operating on purely plant-based, organic principles.

The standard tells consumers not only what a farm has excluded – animal inputs, chemical fertilisers, pesticides – but what it actively does: closing organic cycles, building humus soil, promoting biodiversity, and sequestering carbon.

We endorse the Biocyclic Vegan Standard because it reflects the values of the farming we support, and because it genuinely helps farmers access markets that value those standards.

The certification process recognises the reality of transition.

For farms in conversion, the standard allows up to two years to wind down the livestock enterprise and permits the sale of feed/fodder from 40% of the farm for up to five years.

This provides financial flexibility as farmers adapt and develop new market relationships – a practical recognition that real transitions take time.

Land Matching Service

Stockfree Land Matching Service

As farmers transition away from livestock farming, their land often becomes available. Retirement, part-time work, or new farming enterprises can mean they no longer have the capacity or desire to manage all of it. This presents a real opportunity: matching stockfree growers and land-based businesses seeking land with transitioning farmers who have it to offer.

If you’re interested in finding land through our matching service, fill out the form below and we’ll be in contact when an opportunity arises.

If you have land to offer to stockfree growers and businesses, please email sam@stockfreefarming.org with details of the land and your offering.

Please note that this service is strictly for matching stockfree growers with stockfree land. All agreements are arranged directly between growers and landholders.
